Noma

Intro

Noma is a Japanese furniture brand focused on pieces that complement a space through balance, form, and honest materials. This project, part of a brief from @designerbriefs on Instagram, involved developing both the brand’s visual identity and the landing page, aiming to create a cohesive and recognizable presence online.

The Challenge

The main challenge was to create a visual identity from scratch that could communicate Noma’s core values (grounded, natural, spatial, and calm) while ensuring the brand was distinctive and consistently reproducible. The project also required designing the website, establishing an initial online presence to showcase the furniture and support potential sales.

My Approach

I began by analyzing the brief’s keywords and translating them into visual concepts through typography, color palette, layout, and moodboarding. Inspired by Japanese interiors and materials, I focused on natural tones, wood, and rice paper, emphasizing essential minimalism and clarity. The style balances simplicity with coherence, reflecting the brand’s calm and grounded personality while remaining clear and approachable across all touchpoints.

The Results

The project delivered a cohesive and recognizable visual identity and landing page that together communicate Noma’s values. The design ensures clarity, coherence, and reproducibility, creating a distinctive presence that can be applied consistently across media, while conveying the brand’s grounded, minimal, and spatial character.
